MUFASA Project
PTA | MIG - 20221004
The overall objective of the MUFASA project is to develop the capabilities of the Spanish industrial base aimed at meeting the technological challenges associated with the automation of aerostructure assembly that will emerge in the aeronautical market regarding cost, production rate, and eco-efficiency.
These automation technologies for assembly focus on each individual component of the Future Non-Pressurized Rear Fuselage and Empennage: i) Horizontal Stabilizer (HTP), ii) Rear Fuselage (Section S6), and iii) Tail Cone (Section S6.1); as well as the final integration of the three components so that they form a single unit, thereby increasing their level of integration and production rate, while reducing cost and energy consumption by eliminating assembly operations and jigs.
The MUFASA project will also contribute to managing significant advances that pave the way for sustainable aviation by analyzing new assembly concepts for the future zero-emission aircraft powered by hydrogen.
