FAMACOM Project
FAMACOM (Integrated solution for the advanced one-shot manufacturing and Microwave curing of sandwich structures made of composite material in the aeronautical sector) is a project aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Andalusian aeronautical industry in the face of new industrial challenges emerging in the future.
The FAMACOM project aims to represent a significant technological leap for the processing of sandwich-format composites (currently manual), based on a patent developed by one of the participating research organizations. One of the challenges to be addressed will be achieving homogeneous curing of the sandwich-type part, overcoming the obstacle of the thickness and non-homogeneous nature of this type of assembly.
The aeronautical industry and the developments proposed within the framework of the FAMACOM project fall under the category of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT), characterized by knowledge-intensive processes associated with high R&D intensity, rapid innovation cycles, high capital expenditure, and a highly skilled workforce.
The consortium that will develop the project is formed by 4 partners: one large company (CTINGENIEROS ANDALUCIA), two medium-sized companies (AEROTECNIC COMPOSITES and INESPASA), and one small company (TITANIA); they will be additionally supported by three research organizations, two of them from Andalusia (University of Cadiz, FADA-CATEC) and a third from the Valencian Community (AIMPLAS).
