ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE 2022
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE
1- Environmental Management System
INESPASA has an integrated quality and environmental management system according to standards ISO 9001:2015; EN 9100:2018; ISO 14001:2015.
This system complies with legal requirements and other requirements derived from the context analysis performed, taking into account relevant stakeholders, the integrated policy, and risk analysis.
Annually, the external and internal context analysis, as well as the requirements and expectations of stakeholders, are reviewed and updated in relation to detected changes that may affect the organization and the established strategic plan. The identified strategic risks and opportunities are reviewed, and organizational decisions are made regarding them and the potential need to revise the strategic plan.
2- Environmental Objectives
We establish annual environmental objectives and programs that allow us to improve our environmental performance and environmental protection, defining specific measures to be taken, assigned resources, and responsible parties for their implementation. Periodic monitoring of the objectives is carried out to ensure the achievement of expected results (or, if not, to establish new measures to achieve them).
3- Environmental Performance
We have established indicators that provide data on resource consumption at our facilities and the waste generated by our various activities. These indicators provide reliable and timely information for each aspect to make more informed decisions, thereby enabling us to fulfill our purpose of continuously improving our environmental performance.
Generated Hazardous Waste: Absorbents and rags, contaminated plastic oil containers, contaminated metal containers, contaminated metallic dust filters, hydrocarbon sludge, contaminated sepiolite, coolant (lubricant and refrigerant), adhesive and sealant waste, paint and varnish waste.
Generated Non-Hazardous Waste: Batteries, toner and ink cartridges, paper.
2022 Consumption Trends: Monitoring resource consumption for 2022 and comparing it with the previous year, the following should be noted:
-
Water consumption increased at both centers, with a more pronounced increase at Center 2 (32%) compared to Center 1 (19%).
-
The same trend is observed in electricity consumption, with a 35% increase at Center 2 and a 19% increase at Center 1. Both increases are justified by increased production and additional work shifts. Fewer machines being idle or broken has an availability advantage but a load and consumption disadvantage.
-
Paper consumption decreased slightly compared to 2021 (1%).
-
Diesel consumption also decreased in the comparison of both years.
-
The evaluation of coolant consumption has been discontinued following comments from the last audit, shifting the focus to the quantity of waste generated.
